The sixth testing of the newly built Terminal D has been conducted at Boryspil. The airport’s services, jointly with the ORAT team from Munich, carried out another test on 21 February within the framework of the terminal’s preparation for operational activities, Boryspil International Airport reports on its official Facebook page.
There were 100 volunteers who took part in the testing, and this made it possible to test automatic passenger check-in for four training flights. Registration was carried out at eight desks, though not linearly, but with the use of two sides of the B isle. In it turn, additional control of the baggage system’s functionality could be carried thanks to this.
In the course of testing, special attention was paid to the issue of air security control and the issue of queue management in terminal halls. Services for special categories of passengers, including unattended children and elderly people who need looking after, were also trained.
Within the framework of this testing, automatic passenger plane boarding control was exercised for the first time, which enabled the Departure Control System to be tested in its entirety. Let us remind you that passenger check-in is fulfilled in automatic mode during testing: passengers from among volunteers and their baggage are being checked in for flights in line with the requirements of the regulatory documents in effect in Ukraine. Volunteers and airport staff communicate exclusively in English.
A note that the ORAT programme was launched at Boryspil in December 2011, and it is currently exercised every Sunday.
